SPECIAL MEETING HELD FOR SPECIAL SCHOOL 

Concerned local Casey and Cardinia Shire families and community groups have today (Thursday) met to discuss the importance of a new special school for the Casey-Cardinia growth corridor.

The meeting held at Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Edward O’Donohue’s electorate office in Pakenham, heard that local children attending special schools in Dandenong or Cranbourne are being forced to travel up to 1 ½ hours in order to get to their nearest special school.

LOBATO FAILS TO STOP MASS POKIE VENUE

A gambling venue with up to 60 poker machines could be forced upon Beaconsfield residents after the Brumby Government’s gambling regulator approved an application for the Pink Hill site.

Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Edward O’Donohue said that the decision to approve the venue was a real blow to the small community and went against years of local objection.

COALITION TO BOOST AMBULANCE SERVICES IN BELGRAVE, EMERALD AND YARRA JUNCTION

A Coalition Government will upgrade Belgrave, Emerald and Yarra Junction ambulance stations to 24-hour coverage, Coalition Leader Ted Baillieu said today.

Announcing the Coalition’s commitment outside the Belgrave ambulance station, Mr Baillieu said Victorians living in outer Melbourne needed proper health care including round-the-clock ambulance services.

FEES CRIPPLING LOCAL CLUBS AND BUSINESSES

Sporting clubs and small businesses from across the Hills region met this week at the Emerald Football Clubrooms to discuss liquor licensing fees after State Government changes have placed increasing pressure on local clubs and businesses.
 
Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Edward O’Donohue said that the meeting with local business owners and football clubs showed that the State Government had stopped working with community groups and businesses.

AMBULANCE SERVICES TO GO UNDER AUDITOR GENERAL INVESTIGATION

An investigation into the State Government’s neglect of Victoria’s ambulance services has been called for while the service is struggling to keep up with demand.

Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Edward O’Donohue said that the Parliament’s Upper House had referred the issue onto the Auditor-General to urgently look into Victoria’s failing ambulance system.
