ASPHALTING WORKS COMPLETE ON MOUNT DANDENONG TOURIST ROAD

16 February 2012

Eastern Victoria Region MP Edward O'Donohue today announced road resurfacing works on Mount Dandenong Tourist Road between Churchill Drive and Mast Gully Road in Ferny Creek have been completed.

Mr O'Donohue said the $95,000 resurfacing works would greatly improve the condition of the road surface for local residents and people travelling to the popular tourist area.

"The Coalition Government is committed to funding the ongoing maintenance of roads across the network. The works to improve the condition of Mount Dandenong Road directly addresses issues raised by concerned residents about wear and tear on this stretch of road," Mr O'Donohue said.

"VicRoads investigations showed the defects on Mount Dandenong Tourist Road between Churchill Drive and Mast Gully Road were due to underlying road pavement conditions and a tight, curved alignment. These issues have been addressed as part of the resurfacing works."

The completion of the project was originally scheduled for the end of February, however VicRoads accelerated the works to ensure they were finished ahead of schedule.
