PUBLIC CONSULTED ON MONTROSE ROUNDABOUT SOLUTIONS

16 December 2011

Kilsyth MP David Hodgett and Eastern Victoria Region MP Edward O'Donohue together with VicRoads last night held an information session regarding options to improve traffic and manage safety at the notorious Montrose roundabout.

Mr O'Donohue said he was pleased with the strong community response at the meeting, with over 100 people attending at the Montrose Town Centre.

"The feedback received from the community members who attended was positive and constructive," Mr O'Donohue said.

VicRoads presented traffic modelling for two possible scenarios; the installation of a full signalised intersection, and the retention of the roundabout with improved pedestrian and traffic management. Both scenarios forecast major improvements to traffic flow and pedestrian safety, and residents were invited to comment on the two designs.

Mr Hodgett thanked VicRoads for the work done so far and the Montrose Township Group for their continued input.

"Once the feedback has been received and further analysis is done there will be an opportunity for further public input before a decision is made by the Government in conjunction with VicRoads and the township group as to the best resolution to this issue," Mr Hodgett said.

"I wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and encourage motorists to take care on the roads this festive season."
